New Energy Policy Finalised: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Gave Final Touches

ISLAMABAD: In a high-level meeting on Friday, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad gave final touches to the new energy policy, Radio Pakistan reported.
Nawaz Sharif said that the new energy policy will turn out to be panacea to energy crisis confronting the country.
Speaking about the people and the national economy having suffered badly due to crippling power crisis, he said that it is high time that prudent and consistent policies are implemented to help everyone come out of this morass.
The meeting briefly discussed the main features of the new energy policy.
It was also decided that the new power policy would be announced shortly by the Prime Minister.
Last week, the federal minister for water and power Khwaja Mohammad Asif announced that a new energy policy will be announced soon. He said that 600-700 MW more hydel power is expected in the national grid and the government is working on a roadmap to ensure equitable load-shedding as directed by the Supreme Court.
