مائیکرو بلاگنگ سائٹ ٹوئٹر پر جاری کیے گئے پیغام میں شنیرا نے لکھا کہ ’ہم نے حال ہی میں خواتین کا عالمی دن منایا ہے اور اب ہم ایک ایسی نامور یونیورسٹی کا ساتھ دے رہے ہیں جہاں ایک نوجوان لڑکی کو پُراعتماد اور بااختیار ہونے پر بےدخل کیا جارہا ہے۔‘

شنیرا نے اپنے ٹوئٹ میں لکھا کہ ’لڑکی کی غلطی صرف یہ ہے کہ اُس نے سب کے سامنے اپنی محبت کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے لڑکے کو شادی کی پیشکش کی ہے۔‘
سابق کرکٹر کی اہلیہ نےسوالیہ انداز میں لکھا کہ’ہم یہاں کس قسم کی مثال قائم کر رہے ہیں؟‘
شنیرا نے اپنے ٹوئٹ میں ہیش ٹیگ Can'tExpelLove کا بھی استعمال کیا جس کا مطلب ہے ’آپ محبت کو بے دخل نہیں کر سکتے۔‘
