
PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday announced a special package for prisoners who had fled from the Dera Ismail Khan jail on July29, Express News reported.
The terms of the package state that if the prisoners who fled from the DI Khan jail, return within 15 days and willingly surrender themselves into police custody, they won’t face a court case.
“If they return within 15 days, no action will be taken against them,” said Yasir Ali, Express News correspondent.
“If prisoners return after the stipulated 15 days, they will have terrorism clauses added to their case,” said Yasir.
As many as 248 prisoners had escaped as militants carrying heavy weapons stormed Dera Ismail Khan’s Central Jail on July29. At least nine people were killed including policemen. Six attackers were also reportedly killed.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility for carrying out the major attack and said that they had spent over a month planning the assault and spent Rs10 million.
